Mount Hope Cemetery

Located on Nashville Ave., in Deer Lodge, Morgan County, Tennessee, Mount Hope Cemetery is divided into an old and new section. It is well maintained, and is affiliated with Mount Hope Church. There are about 26 unmarked graves in the old section. All pictures below are from the Old Section.

John H. Bowmer, born May 31, 1824, died June 20, 1891. He was the husband of Matilda Hall Bowmer, who is buried in the Bowmer Cemetery in Overton County, TN. He was probably the son on Peter and Jane Jennie Bowmer. John and Matilda had the following children: William, Martha, Squire, Thomas, Mary, and Millie (Rueben).


William Bowmer, born April 26, 1848, died July 27, 1917. He was the son of John H. and Matilda Hall Bowmer, and the husband of Lucinda Hurst Bowmer.


Lucinda Hurst Bowmer, born July 26, 1851, died August 21, 1814. Wife of John H. Bowmer. John and Lucinda had the following children: Laura, Balaam, Delpha, John W., Miller, Squire Benjamin ("Buster"), Abner, and a child who died as an infant in 1894.


Squire Benjamin "Buster" and Elmira Lyons Bowmer. "Buster" was the son of William and Lucinda Hurst Bowmer. He and Elmira had the following children: Jennie May, William Patrick, and Charlie Miller.
